National Poetry Month Celebration

2105

    Poetry is like green tea.  The more you drink of it, the more you like it.  This writer has drunk of the sweet nectar of poetry from birth.  Many occasions have been presented to leave a special note  in a poets guest book which says something very special about their writ.

    Perhaps in some small way a personal reflection written in 1998 when we built our first home page says "thank you!"

The Poet In You
by Denny Lancaster
980428

In all the earth and air,
we hear not a voice so loud;
Your verse will not be bare,
lingering on yonder cloud.

From a hallowed mind we know not,
flows poetry in abundance from thee;
Bountiful as rainbow clouds flow not,
nor rain drops so bright to see.

You are like a poet once hidden,
in the embers of dim lit thought;
Singing hymns to your kin unbidden,
till the words of pleasure are wrought.

Gilded words like a high born maiden,
tucked in a splendid palace tower;
Soothing cheers laced with love-laden,
soul searching in the secret hour.

Your verse glimmers as one golden,
in the stripes of a rainbows hue;
Scattering words to us beholden,
mirrored in the meadows grassy dew.

We look to you both before and after,
relish for what you write and we can not;
Our inward look to see your laughter,
and the pain which is erased not fraught.

A standard, better than all other measures,
of delightful verse, pleasing tonal sound;
'Tis better than all other man made treasures,
for here in your pages, you dear one we found.

Thank you for teaching us half the gladness,
that thy magnificent pen and mind must know;
Such a pleasure knowing you wipe away sadness,
from our lips, hearts, and minds adoration will flow.

"The world should listen then, as I am listening now!"
