The manuscript was executed in the Monastery of Lindisfarne,
which was situated on Holy Island, just off the coast of
Northumberland. It is probably connected with the Translation of St Cuthbert, which took place on 20 March 698. Almost everything that it is known concerning the origin of the manuscript is derived from a note in Anglo-Saxon inserted, probably between 950 and 970, by a priest named Aldred (afterwards Provost of Chester-le-Street), who also inserted an Anglo-Saxon gloss, or word-for-word translation, in the spaces between the lines of the Latin text. Many more mysteries await your visitation in your quest for "Founding." |
At the heart of St. Petersburg stand five magnificent structures, formerly the residence of grand tsars and tsarinas of Russia, now the home of the State Hermitage museum. Two centuries of building and collecting have resulted in one of the largest and most exquisite art collections in the world. |
The phenomenon of crop circles as defined by Robert Carroll
(1994) was first reported in 1946 and became a media event in the
late 1980's. The origin of the completely flat circles in fields
of crops, however remains a mystery. These circles have been
reported from a diverse number of countries, Australia, Italy,
United States, Norway, Canada and especially England where the
main focus of the phenomenon occurs. These circles of swirled
flattened crops (the stalks are not broken, only bent flat)
appear mysteriously overnight, and may be single, double or
triple circles, and may be intersected by straight lines. Explanations for this phenomena abound, from UFOs, hoaxes, and the "Plasma Vortex Theory". None of these explanations seems to fully explain why and how they are created, as some are very geometrically intricate. Since 1992, the subject has received little media attention, due to two men claiming responsibility for hoaxing approximately 250 circles. However this does not account for the many others that have been created in England and all around the world. It is indeed an unexplained phenomena. Many more mysteries are revealed during your visit, yet most are simple truths, which a child may understand and accept with out equivocation. |
